Lagoons in general are a common place to spot alligators, however humans are typically not on their menu. Statistics show an average of 7 unprovoked bites a year, where most do not prove fatal. It is reasonable therefore to assume that most freshwater lagoons do have gators. However, it does not need to deter people from swimming. The key recommendation by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Committee is to not go swimming outside of daylight hours.
